I graduated Emmanuel College in 2017 with a Bachelor’s in Communications and Media Studies and minors in Writing and Women and Gender Studies.
Thought my alma mater does not have a Journalism program, I worked hard to make what they did have benefit me in the long run. I took relevant courses and networked with my two journalism professors.
This allowed me to get the internships at Boston Common Magazine and Boston Magazine, which expand my knowledge of journalism and set me up for a career in the field.
During my freshman year, I joined The Hub, Emmanuel College’s Student Newspaper. During my time with The Hub, I published over 60 pieces ranging from Student Government Association meeting recaps to feature pieces about students. I also spent a year live-tweeting Student Government Association meetings and as well as other events on campus throughout my time with The Hub.
In May of 2015, I became the Editor-in-Chief of the newspaper. During my tenure, the paper reached over 300,000 total page views, actively covered the construction of a new dorm on campus and covered student responses to tenure denials, sexual assault cases, and changes to course curriculums.
